Personal Tax Returns

Procedure

Our personal tax return service is perfect for those who are time-poor but value accuracy, a friendly, thorough touch, and are comfortable using online platforms. Designed for clients who aren’t after the cheapest option but love quality service and are happy to chat through our firm-wide portal. Managed by five lovely tax specialists, including Sarah, we aim to pair you with the same expert each year because we know consistency is key to building trust. To get started, simply submit your tax return request via our client portal. If you need a client portal account (or can’t find your login), request access here.

Receipts?

Feel free to use our portal—accessible on your phone or computer—to securely store your receipts and documents as tax time approaches. We’ll focus on your summaries and totals, so no need to attach every single receipt specifically to your annual tax return organiser (and we love those fabulous Excel summaries!). Whether you use our portal or not, it’s super important to keep all your receipts safe, just in case the ATO ever needs them. Remember, holding onto these documents is your responsibility as the taxpayer.

Rental Properties / Air B&B

If you own a rental property, our tax return organiser will prompt you to share a summary of your total rental income and related expenses, like council and water rates, agent fees, strata, repairs, depreciation, electricity, travel, and mortgage interest. If you have a property agent, their summary usually covers most of these, but you may still need to gather details like electricity, council rates, and mortgage interest. For Airbnb properties (including renting out part of your home), we’ll need a rental schedule in your personal tax return. Alongside your guest income, please provide a summary of property expenses, and let us know how long it was rented during the year, in order that we can perfectly apportion your expenses!

Shares / Crypto & Similar?

Do you have shares, crypto, or other similar investments? We’ve got you covered. If your Tax File Number is linked to your investments, the ATO usually receives the details, although it’s always a good idea to attach your annual tax summaries to your tax return request regardless. If you’ve sold any investments, make sure to share the purchase and sale details with us so we can handle all the nitty-gritty of calculating any capital gains or losses for you (just a little note, extra charges apply for this service).

Maximising your outcome

While working on your tax return, we’ll be on the lookout for any extra deductions you might have missed, in order that you receive every cent you’re entitled to. We’re dedicated to doing everything we can – not just to maximise your refund, but to ensure you feel totally confident and in the loop about your income tax return every step of the way. We believe in making tax time as stress-free and transparent as possible, giving you peace of mind that you’re getting the best possible result, all while keeping things easy and understandable.

Processing time

Once you’ve completed your tax organiser, signed our engagement letter, and settled your invoice, we’ll schedule your return preparation, aiming to have your tax return ready within 7 days. During our busy season (July to October), it might take a little longer, but don’t fret—we’ll keep you updated so that you know exactly where things stand. If you’re in a hurry, just give us a shout. We can often move you to the top of the list since most clients aren’t rushing. We’re here to make things as smooth and stress-free as possible, always putting you first.

What happens next?

If there’s anything important you need to know about your return, we’ll always reach out to chat with you. Likewise, if we have any questions, we’ll give you a call or pop over an email with a list of queries. Once you’re happy with everything, you can easily sign your approved tax return digitally, and we’ll take care of lodging it with the ATO, confirming with you once it’s done. If you have any concerns or need changes, just give us a call or send an email—we’re here to help.

Important Note: During our peak season from July to October, we prioritise maintaining our signature high-quality service. As a result, we may not always be able to take on new clients, however we’re happy to add you to our waitlist.
